Shir Tikvah is proud to be a highly participatory congregation and sustaining our community is a shared responsibility! Whether we host an oneg, develop programs on a committee, or hold office on the board of trustees, each members' contribution is critical to the life of Shir Tikvah. Below is a list of the standing committees. Please feel free to contact the office for more information or to join a committee. |
Caring Community Committee: Shir Tikvah is a caring community that also has a Caring Committee. This group helps congregants strengthen their connection to Shir Tikvah and to each other, working hand in hand - to help meet the needs of our congregants and to offer ongoing support. Behind the scenes, we send cards, make phone calls, make meals, and provide shiva support. Shiva: grieving families are supported by volunteers who provide support to our members who have lost a loved one. They assist at the Shiva by taking care of all duties and bring supplies that may be needed so the family can be with and comforted by the individuals who come to express their condolences.Meals/Cards: following a surgery, illness, or difficult time, congregants can request Caring Community volunteers to provide meals and send cards of caring.
Accessibility: Shir Tikvah welcomes and supports children and adults with disabilities. We try to make our programs and services accessible to all within the limits of our resources. Development Committee: The Development Committee is responsible for establishing and implementing a culture of, and a commitment to, giving by the members of Shir Tikvah. The Development Committee coordinates all fundraising activities on behalf of the synagogue. It also recommends fundraising policy and new initiatives to the Board of Trustees. In addition to raising funds to meet our ongoing needs, this committee also takes responsibility for the planned giving of funds Shir Tikvah will receive in the future. The committee needs creative thinkers who enjoy people and appreciate the importance of fundraising in order to keep Shir Tikvah financially healthy.
Finance & Administration Committee: ensures the financial well-being of the congregation and develops the budget. The committee learns about all the activities of the congregation and helps to assure appropriate and balanced funding. Library Committee: The Library Committee ensures that our Library contains current materials available for check out by both members and non-members, develops cataloging, conducts follow-up with overdue books, and keeps our library looking beautiful. |
